MAXIMILIAN KOLBE

Patron of prisoners, drug addicts, journalists, those who give themselves for others, families of victims.

Saint Maximilian Kolbe was a Polish Conventual Franciscan friar born in 1894. He founded the Militia Immaculata, a movement dedicated to the Virgin Mary, and established a monastery and a publishing center. During World War II, he provided shelter to refugees, including Jews, and was arrested by the Gestapo. Imprisoned at Auschwitz, he volunteered to die in place of a stranger, Franciszek Gajowniczek, and was martyred by lethal injection on August 14, 1941. Canonized in 1982, he is venerated as a model of self-sacrifice and charity. Today, Catholics honor him as an intercessor for those facing extreme suffering and injustice. He is the patron saint of prisoners, drug addicts, journalists, and families of victims.
A PRAYER TO MAXIMILIAN KOLBE

Heavenly Father, through the intercession of Saint Maximilian Kolbe, who gave his life for another in imitation of Christ, we ask for the grace of courage and selfless love. Help us to bear our own sufferings with faith and to serve others generously, especially those who are imprisoned, addicted, or marginalized. May his example inspire us to trust in your mercy and to seek the good of our neighbors. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
