JOHN PAUL II

Patron of young people, families, World Youth Day, those navigating change, the suffering.

Saint John Paul II, born Karol Wojtyła in Wadowice, Poland, served as Supreme Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church from 1978 until his death in 2005. His papacy, one of the longest in history, was marked by extensive global travel and a profound emphasis on the dignity of the human person. A philosopher, poet, and pastor, he authored a significant body of teachings, including the Theology of the Body, which profoundly impacted Catholic thought on love, marriage, and family life. He played a crucial role in the fall of communism in Eastern Europe and tirelessly promoted interreligious dialogue. For Catholics today, he remains a powerful example of faith in action, intellectual engagement, and courageous witness in the face of personal suffering and societal change. He is invoked as the patron saint of young people, families, and World Youth Day.
A PRAYER TO JOHN PAUL II

Heavenly Father, through the intercession of Saint John Paul II, we ask for your guidance. Grant young people the courage to follow Christ with joy. Strengthen families in unity and love. Give hope and perseverance to all who suffer in body or spirit. Help us to uphold the inviolable dignity of every human life, from conception to natural death. May his example of unwavering faith inspire us to be bold witnesses to your truth and mercy in our world. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
