FAUSTINA KOWALSKA

Patron of divine mercy, those who feel unworthy, second chances, forgiveness, Poland.

Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska, born Helena Kowalska in 1905 in Poland, was a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy. From 1931 until her death from tuberculosis in 1938, she received a series of profound private revelations from Jesus Christ, which she recorded in her diary. In these visions, Christ emphasized His infinite mercy for all humanity, especially sinners, and entrusted her with specific messages and devotions, including the now-famous Divine Mercy image, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, and the Feast of Divine Mercy. For Catholics today, she is a powerful witness to the centrality of God's merciful love in the Christian life, encouraging trust in Jesus even in the midst of personal suffering and spiritual darkness. Her diary, 'Divine Mercy in My Soul,' continues to inspire millions. She is the primary patroness of the Divine Mercy devotion and of those seeking forgiveness.
